Project Tornado with Rusty Garrett

 

News 10′s Chief Weather Anchor, Rusty Garret is back this Spring to educate students about severe weather in Central Texas through a program called Project Tornado. Project Tornado brings life saving information into classrooms across Central Texas. Over the past two decades, Rusty has enjoyed bringing this program to literally tens of thousands of children from kindergarten to high school.

Over the past few years the requests for Rusty to bring Project Tornado to classrooms has been tremendous, so much in fact it is impossible for him to travel to and speak to all the students in Central Texas.    In October of 2007, a solution materialized in the form of Videoconferencing!

  • Recommended grade levels 1st grade through 6th.  Younger students could be upset easily by the intense nature of the sessions.
  • The sessions will be a 1 on 1 with your class, so they will be on a first come, first serve basis.
  • If there is a session you want that has been filled, when you register you can be put on a waiting list in case of cancellations.

(A)  identify patterns of change such as in weather, metamorphosis, and objects in the sky;

Grade 5
(8)  Earth and space. The student knows that there are recognizable patterns in the natural world and among the Sun, Earth, and Moon system. The student is expected to:
(A)  differentiate between weather and climate;
