During May, June, and July, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs’ Property Tax Assistance Division (PTAD) will conduct two statewide telecasts and 27 webinars to explain the laws that local governmenttaxing units must follow when adopting 2010 property tax rates.
Attendees may pre-register for the seminar of their choice. Use the registration form www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxforms/50-754.pdfand return it to PTAD. The regional seminars are still free of charge. Registration is required to guarantee receiving a copy of the Truth-in-Taxation publication and presentation slides.
The PTAD staff will detail how to calculate the effective and rollback tax rates, what to publish and when to hold a tax-rate-rollback election.
Truth-in-Taxation Seminars for 2010 will consist of two separate presentations. The morning session, from 9 a.m. to noon, will deal with setting tax rates for taxing units other than school districts. The afternoon session, 1–4 p.m., will focus exclusively on setting tax rates for school districts. Webinars will be presented on a variety of topics.
