Target Audience: Students Grade Level: 5-8

Event Focus : Introduction to engineering principles and NASA aeronautics

Description:
Introduce students to NASA aviation and review 4 Tools of aeronautics. Students learn about how NASA develops new aircraft concepts  through research and testing which turns concepts into reality.

Instructional Objectives
Engage - Demonstrate the Aerobat flying saucer model and discuss the flying wing concept.

Explore - Review the history of the the flying wing and how new aviation concepts are developed through research and testing.

Explain - Discuss the 4 tools of aeronautics and give examples of each.

Elaborate - While constructing the Aerobat flying saucer discuss how new concepts need to be reviewed and tested using the scientific method.

Evaluate -Review several student designs and suggest ways of improving their flight.
