LIVE KNEE SURGERY SESSIONS OPEN! |
| The Center of Science and Industry, or COSI, as most people know it is a great place for kids of all ages to discover new and exciting things in science, health and industry. COSI is also a great place to find some exciting VC content. | |
One of the most popular is Surgical Suite: Total Knee Replacement, where students (and teachers) can ask questions and interact with medical personnel during a live video conference of a knee surgery. It’s a great opportunity for students to actually see what happens during a medical procedure and ask questions to experts. Event normally lasts about 1.5 hours and is recommended for 6th Grade and up.
Currently registration is open for Total Knee Replacement, but spaces are limited so contact me or visit COSI’s website to register.
Other really great Video Conferencing programs offered by COSI:
In Depth, Autopsy – Follow a videotape of an actual autopsy accompanied by live narration by a forensic pathologist. Participants must work through the “case” and solve for cause of death.
Weather Watch - Work with COSI’s newest Storm Spotter to learn how changes in air pressure and temperature can affect the weather. Students will take and use readings from barometers and thermometers to help them predict basic weather patterns. They will also explore air pressure using everyday objects and understand why changes in weather often occur around cold and warm fronts. All materials for pre- and post-visit activities are included in the kit.
Gadget Works - Join Professor Gadgeteer to learn about forces and motion by taking apart wind-up toys or indentify simple machines inside wind-up toys. Toys included in packet!
Experts Program – Connect your students with scientists, doctors, and experts in their fields in a live interactive two-way experience!
