The Scientists (and Penguin) from the JOIDES
We had a great connection with the JOIDES vessel in the Antarctic yesterday. We learned that the JOIDES Research Vessel is a couple football fields long, they drill deep into the ocean floor and need many feet of pipe. They said the pipe drilling down to the ocean could be as tall as 3 Empire State buildings stacked on top of each other!
